What are USB or Firewire drives?
All drives use an internal normal hard disk or disks in an enclosure that interfaces
to the computer using USB or Firewire cable.
Common Issues
Just plugged in an external USB 2 drive and it was recognized by my computer (OS
is XP Home). However, it does not show up on the list of drives when I double click
My Computer. It does not show up under device manager
Most common issues are due to the fact that they should not be disconnected without
first making sure to stop them or dismount them, improper shut down could lead to
data loss.
